Mikey Wright Is the 2012 Quiksilver King of the Groms

As you already know, the Quiksilver King of the Groms is a contest dedicated to young talents. It is a quest for the best young surfer in the world. And this year, the King of the Groms is the Australian surfer Mikey Wright. Mikey is Owen Wright’s little brother and he is a rising star on the international surfing scene. He’s also the under 16 Aus champ.

Mikey Wright claimed the 2012 Quiksilver King of the Groms title after defeating America’s Kanoa Igarashi in an epic final and an extremely close fought battle. In the of la Gravière, Mickey put his skills to work and scored 9,66 pts vs. 7,13 pts for Igarashi. He now steps on the podium of this prestigious competition to join elite surfers like Yan Daberkow and Gabriel Medina who previously won this event.
