Surfing Sicily Movie Coming Soon

Posted on: 06/02/2012

Surfing Sicily - Live Fearlessly is a seriocomedy movie created by Federico Badiali and Scott Joseph Foster in an effort to raise money for the research on cure against cystic fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is called an orphan disease due to the fact that it affects a small number of people in the US.  This disease is mostly common among children and young adults and causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract and other areas of the body. It is considered to be a life-threatening disorder.

Although the number of people suffering from this disease is around 30,000, the U.S. government is not currently considering it to be large and not funding research for the cure. The Surfing Sicily - Live Fearlessly will be launched in May, the Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month, and it will be centered on the story of Tyler McGovern, a surfer who ventures on the shores of Sicily in a surf contest to assist Briana, a seven-year-old girl suffering from cystic fibrosis.

The movie comes after Federico Badiali and Scott Joseph Foster, the film makers, attended the Mauli Ola Surf Day for cystic fibrosis together in Malibu in October, 2011. The primary mission of the Mauli Ola is to take care of young adults and kids suffering from Cystic Firbosis by providing them an exciting surfing experience in the Ocean waves.

James Dunlop, President and Founder of the Mauli Ola foundation, stated: “We are so excited to have a feature a film based on our foundation’s mission. The awareness this will raise about cystic fibrosis and the amazing connection to the ocean as a treatment is outstanding. This is a true honor.” You can help the Mauli Ola foundation to support people suffering from cystic fibrosis by making a donation on thee foundation’s website.
