About
Robert Kelly Slater is well known for his powerful style and his amazing skills. He won the ASP World Champion for 11 times. Between 1994 and 1998 he earned 5 consecutive titles. At the same time he is the youngest and the oldest rider to win this title. He won his first ASP World Champion title at the age of 20 and the last at the age of 39.
Apart from competing in the ASP events, Kelly loves to take part in the X games and other competitions.
Kelly also likes to play the guitar and compose sonnets. Most of his spare time is spend with his long time girlfriend Kalani Miller, who also supports him in his pro career. He also starred in several films and TV shows.
He was awarded with the Slater in H. Res. 792 honor on May the 8th 2010 by the United States House of Representatives for "outstanding and unprecedented achievements in the world of surfing and for being an ambassador of the sport and excellent role model."
