It is a good freeride board. At the same time it is quite fast in light winds. Didn’t had the chance to try it in big winds, but my guess is that it is very powerful. It boosts you nicely in under 12 knots and it is fast enough. The control...more
Mistral Energy 2010
Volume: 130L, 144L
Size: 75x244cm, 80x248cm
The 2010 Mistral Energy is designed to take freeride to whole new levels. Mistral has made no compromise and has created a board which mixes maneuverability with extra power and speed in a unique way.
Although it is user friendly and handles perfectly in any conditions the board is quite aggressive and has plenty of pop, so it suits perfectly an advanced or pro rider. Less experienced sailors can also enjoy a great freeride session but they should carefully tune the power. The board has a slightly wider profile and a refined outline which allows it to slide smoothly and fast on the water surface. A straight rocker similar to that of a slalom board combined with the enhanced parallel outlines significantly increases early planning and jibbing abilities. The board packs plenty of proportionally distributed volume for extra grip and stability. The softer rails and the tucked line assure that the rider has a responsive and accurate control and can maneuver the board in any wind or wave conditions. The Mistral Energy is engineered to generate extra traction and minimize drag and wave impact force at the same time. This means that the rider can perform fast turns and rotations or lifts and other tricks very easy and without any effort. An accentuated V design in the tail area provides additional power and acceleration for the hardcore rider who loves intense speeds or extreme moves.
The board is very light but at the same time reinforced, so it can take all the possible punishment without suffering any damage. This is possible due to the use of a high quality Glass Carbon PVC construction which optimizes the strength to weight ratio. The manufacturer provides soft pads and flexible, easy to adjust foot straps to make sure that the rider is comfortable all the time and also the Maui Ultra fins. For extra performance the Mistral Energy should be used with a 4.5 to 9.0 meters wide sail, depending on size and volume.
