The new 2011 Starboard boards are crafted using a new shaping technology intended to revolutionize the world of windsurfing. If you are a dedicated freerider and look for a board which delivers high speed and top maneuverability, you need the new Carve. The Carve is fast, it accelerates quickly and planes without effort. The board packs plenty of power, but it is also user friendly ad fun to ride. Starboard has added three new board models to the Carve series: the 111, 151 and 171.

These new Carve models combine a classic freeride shape with a smart volume distribution and offer a fast and smooth glide. The larger board models perform great in lightwind conditions, while the smaller ones are perfect for dynamic and lighter riders which sail in high winds. The board features a longer nose which improves longitudinal stability and optimizes the drive. Extra stability is added by the smart volume distribution. The wider board shape assures plenty of grip as wells as optimal low end power and low speed stability. Starboard has implemented the Dual Flat Concept rocker line in the design of the Carve. This special rocker line allows the rider to perform fantastic jibes and maneuver the board without effort in most wind and wave conditions.

A new bottom design, featuring less V in the nose and more V in the tail makes the board very maneuverable and responsive. It also assures a very smooth and fluid drive. The Carve is not only powerful and fast. It is also very comfortable to ride due to the heavily doomed deck.  This deck also assures excellent steering and input response. The Starboard Carve is available in Wood, Technora and Tufskin editions. The board is equipped with a special thick and stiff freeride fin which improves acceleration and planning potential.

It is fast and has good control in chop. The carves seems quite user friendly to me. It planes nice and remains stable under your feet. When using bigger sails it has a tendency to spin out through turns. It is fun to ride....more

The Carves are among the fastest freeride boards. It has very good control, but it doesn't plane very fast and it requires a bit of effort to gybe nicely. It is a sporty type of freeride board.
