Antoine Albeau Sets New Speed Windsurfing Record

The 2012 Luderitz Speed Challenge in Namibia continues to be a competition dedicated to break world records. Just a few days ago, Antoine Albeau, the French windsurfing speed master, has set a new Speed Windsurfing Record, of 52.05 knots.

On the ninth day of the competition, the French rider sailed at 52.05 knots (the equivalent of 96.39 km/h) over 500 meters and left Anders Bringdal, the second fastest sailor, 0.60 knots away. Antoine is just 1.94 knots away from the classic mark of 100km/h, the equivalent of 53.99 knots. We are sure that he will try to reach this barrier and break it.

The windsurfers still have time to set some more records until the 2nd of December. On the 3rd of December, the kiteboarders will take over the scene and showcase their skills.

During the 2012 Luderitz Speed Challenge another record has been set. The Vestas Sailrocket 2 has set the speed sailing record with 59.23 knots, in Walvis Bay, Namibia, dethroning the mark set by Rob Douglas at 55.65 knots.
