Philip Köster Crowned 2012 PWA Wave World Champ

Klitmoller, aka Cold Hawaii, seems to be a lucky location for German rider Philip Köster. PWA Klitmoller was the decisive turning point for him in his quest for the second PWA Wave World Champ title. And at just 18 years of age, Philip has been crowned as the supreme wave rider for the second year in a row.

After dealing with Kauli Seadi and Ricardo Campello, Philip set out against Victor Fernandez. Defeating Victor Fernandez would allow him to successfully defend his PWA wave world title and win his second successive world crown. A loss would have kept him waiting until Sylt. And the kid won. Both riders performed outstanding in the cold waves. Fernandez started with a perfect double forward and continued with amazing moves, but Köster responded with a bolt upright double forward and an unreal, huge backside 360 on a high section. Philip’s talent and determination took him on top of the wave world once again.

Here are a few words from the 2012 PWA Wave World Champion: “I'm super stoked, it's the second time that I've won the world championship. It's pretty crazy for me. Cold Hawaii seems to bring me a lot of luck, I'm not sure why, but I feel amazing!”
