Severne Turbo 2011

Sail type: Freeride
Brand: Severne

Severne tries to redefine the world of windsurfing with the release of a new and amazing sail line. All sail models are crafted according to the highest quality standards and intended to offer the best performance in their class. The Turbo is a high performance twin cam freeride sail which offers top control and incredible speed. It blends huge power with user friendly features and it is optimized for flat water speed sailing and freeride. The sail is engineered on the Element platform which offers high end control, huge speed and excellent stability.

The sail is crafted using a monofilm structure which makes the sail crisper and lighter than other freeride sails on the market. The body is reinforced by a durable X-Ply perimeter. Additional durability is added by a Kevlar torsion Frame. A simple two cam configuration assures excellent rotations, while a six or seven battens skeleton depending on size keep the draft steady at high speeds or in high winds. The sail has a forward pull feel and keeps the rider comfortable at all times. A new Stabilizer panel reduces vertical stretch and keeps the foil well balanced under load. The Dual Clew Positions allow the sailor to fine tune the rig according to his needs.

Depending on the clew positions, the sail can suit shorter or taller riders. The Dropped clew allows the rider to use the turbo with shorter booms. Used with a shorter boom the turbo has a more direct feel. The Severne turbo has a quick acceleration and reaches a fast top speed. At the same time it is easy to handle and fun to ride. It is one of the most user friendly cambered sails available today.

Mine works fine. It has good power delivery and speeds nicely. Also planes quickly. Lack of power could be due to mast compatibility issues...

The Turbo is light and it is quite easy to handle. Also very stable. The problem is that it seems to lack enough power. Even if you play around with the outhaul and downhaul, in light or medium winds it doesn't have too much power....more
